Market Update: Sensex, Nifty Open Higher; Allahabad ,Corp Bank gain up to 7%

Market Opens: Benchmark indices opened on a higher note on Wednesday with Nifty hovering around 10,900 level. The Sensex is up 216.17 points at 36189.88, while Nifty is up 52.20 points at 10887.50. About 510 shares have advanced, 98 shares declined, and 21 shares are unchanged. 
Yes Bank, Adani Ports, UltraTech, HPCL, ICICI Bank, RIL, JSW Steel are among major gainers, while Wipro, HCL Tech, TCS, Tech Mahindra are trading lower. Among the sectors, except IT, all other indices are trading in green. Midcap and smallcap also trading with a 0.5 per cent gain.
Crude Update: Oil prices rose on Wednesday after a report of declining crude inventories in the country and as producer club, OPEC seemed to stick to its supply cuts despite pressure from US President Donald Trump.

Market Opens: The geopolitical tension on the Indo-Pak border has pulled the Nifty below 10,800 in the opening trade, while Sensex is down over 200 points. The Sensex is down 241.49 points at 35971.89, while Nifty is down 81.60 points at 10798.50. About 171 shares have advanced, 780 shares declined, and 41 shares are unchanged.

Market open: Sensex, Nifty Open Higher
Indian equity benchmarks opened higher following gains in their Asian peers after the U.S. President Donald Trump postponed the date for boosting tariffs on Chinese imports. The S&P BSE Sensex Index rose as much as 0.43 per cent to 36,027 and the NSE Nifty 50 Index rose as much as 0.32 per cent to 10,826.35. The market breadth was tilted in favour of buyers. About 970stocks advanced and 459 shares declined on the National Stock Exchange. All the sectoral gauges compiled by NSE advanced, led by the NSE Nifty Realty Index’s 2.1 per cent gain.

Kotak Mahindra Bank Falls 5% -  After Block Deals Shares of Kotak Mahindra Bank fell nearly 5 per cent intraday Rs 1,225. About 5.87 crore shares or 3 per cent equity of the Mumbai-based lender changed hands in a block deal, according to Bloomberg data. While the buyers and sellers were not immediately known, quoting two bankers in the know, that ING Group is looking to sell its stake in the private lender. Trading volume was 200 times its 20-day average. The stock advanced 22 per cent in the past 12 months compared to a 6.1 per cent advance in the Sensex.

Market Update:Yes Bank falls 5%:Sensex,Nifty Swing In Open;L&T Extends Gain

Yes Bank shares down 5%- It was the biggest loser among the Sensex stocks. Ashok Chawla, Yes Bank’s non-executive chairman, has stepped down with immediate effect, following his name appearing in Aircel-Maxis controversy. Independent Director Vasant Gujarathi has also quit, citing personal commitments. The bank's board has appointed Uttam Prakash Agarwal as additional director (Independent) for five years, subject to shareholder’s approval.

Rupee weakens against US dollar- The rupee was trading at 71.35 a dollar, down 0.18% from its previous close of 71.23. The currency opened at 71.30 a dollar, touching a high 71.30 and a low 71.40.

Market Opens: Benchmark indices started on a flat note on Friday with Nifty trading below 10,750 marks. The Sensex is down 32.22 points at 35844.00, while Nifty is down 18.30 points at 10727.70. About 332 shares have advanced, 515 shares declined, and 41 shares are unchanged.

Yes, Bank Jumps 30% -  As RBI Says No Divergence In Asset Quality Shares of the Mumbai-based bank jumped as much as 29.98 per cent, the most since July 2005, to Rs 220.25. The stock was the best performer on Sensex and Nifty. 


The private lender received Reserve Bank of India’s compliance assessment report for 2017-18, according to its stock exchange notification. The report stated that there is no divergence in asset classification and provisioning as per the country’s central bank norms. Trading volume was almost six times its 20-day average. The stock had declined 49 per cent in the past 12 months compared to a 5.1 per cent advance in the Sensex.

Market opens-  Equity benchmarks have opened marginally lower, with the Nifty trading around 10,900. The Sensex is down 53.26 points or 0.15% at 36493.22, while the Nifty is down 36.90 points or 0.34% at 10906.70. The market breadth is narrow as 211 shares advanced, against a decline of 169 shares, while 62 shares were unchanged. 
Selling is visible across sectors, with maximum pain seen in automobiles and pharmaceuticals, among others. The Nifty Midcap index is down around 0.20 per cent. Bharti Airtel, Yes Bank, Tata Steel and Titan are the top gainers, while M&M, Power Grid, Dr Reddy’s and Tata Motors lost the most.

LIC-IDBI Bank merger:IDBI may now LIC IDBI Bank or LIC Bank

LIC — Life Insurance Corporation of India — is among a handful of brands ubiquitous to India. Now LIC has a bank, which may bear its name. On Monday, IDBI Bank Ltd. said that it has sought approval from the Reserve Bank of India for a name change. This, after LIC, completed the acquisition of majority equity in the erstwhile development lender. The bank has suggested two options to the regulator: LIC IDBI Bank or LIC Bank. The bank is hopeful that its first preference of ‘LIC IDBI Bank’ is accepted unless there is a conflict issue, said Rakesh Sharma, chief executive officer of IDBI Bank. 


The board has proposed LIC IDBI Bank Ltd as the first preference followed by LIC Bank Ltd. Meanwhile, IDBI Bank posted widening of loss by nearly threefold to Rs 4,185.48 crore for the third quarter ended December 2018 as bad loans surged. The bank had reported a net loss of Rs 1,524.31 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.

Women and Child Development Ministry's Budget Hiked by 20% | In a major boost announced on Friday, Rs 29,000 crore has been set aside for the Women and Child Development (WCD) Ministry for the next fiscal, a 20 per cent increase over the 2018-2019 financial year with the Centre's programmes of maternity benefit and child protection services. 
The allocation for the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), a maternity benefit programme, was more than doubled to Rs 2,500 crore from Rs 1,200 crore.
